Polar Vortex Game Convention supports and recognizes all College of DuPage polices.

Be considerate of non-convention guests of the College of DuPage.
It is permissible to eat in the convention area. However you must utilize the available recycle and garbage receptacles as your mother most likely will not be attending the convention; so pick up after yourself and make her proud!

Con Hours

Polar Vortex is open Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday 7am – 11pm, and Sunday 7am – 6pm.
Dealers are within the main hall and are welcome to stay open till the hall closes each day, however each vendor will decide when they’re done for the day. There are 6 slots which take place during the following hours:

Slot 1: 6pm – 10pm

Slot 2: 8am – 12pm
Slot 3: 1pm – 5pm
Slot 4: 6pm – 10pm

Slot 5: 8am – 12pm
Slot 6: 1pm – 5pm

Harassment Policy

Polar Vortex is a family friendly event and common courtesy is expected from our attendees.  Some Polar Vortex events may be shared with members of the College of DuPage public; please be respectful to all guests of these locations. As a family friendly convention, we will not tolerate unacceptable behavior.

Unacceptable behaviors include: vulgar, intimidating, harassing, abusive, derogatory, discriminatory, or demeaning conduct by any attendees and convention staff of Polar Vortex and its related events and functions. Drunkenness, excessive rudeness, and overuse of profanity will also not be accepted.

Harassment includes: offensive verbal comments related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, disability; inappropriate use of nudity and/or sexual images in public spaces; deliberate intimidation, stalking or following; harassing photography or recording; sustained disruption of events; inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.


Convention management reserves the right to deny entry or remove any person from the event behaving in a manner which event management considers disruptive. Engaging in any of these acts puts you at risk for immediate removal from the convention, and a permanent ban from Polar Vortex in the future.

All of the following constitute grounds for expulsion from the convention without refund:

  • Violating any federal, state, or local laws, facility rules or convention policies
  • Failure to comply with the instructions of staff or C.O.D. personnel
  • Using anything in a threatening or destructive manner against person or property
  • Endangering the safety of oneself or others
  • Threatening, stealing, cheating or harassing others

Lost & Found

Lost and Found will be located at the Registration Desk until 4 p.m. Sunday. If you have lost an item, please check with the Registration Desk. We will attempt to discover ownership of lost items, and may ask for assistance in this matter.

Costumes and Weapons

While costumes are encouraged, no weapons of any kind, either real or life-like are allowed. This includes any such items the convention staff deems inappropriate such as blades, boffo weapons; and non-medical canes, staves or walking sticks.


Polar Vortex Game Convention welcomes families. However, the convention does not offer child care services, nor will convention staff or volunteers take responsibility for minors. So, parents please remember that you are responsible for your children and younger teens. Please keep them in sight at all times.

Be forewarned: unattended children may be sold to goblins or eaten by kobolds…
Adventurers may be available for retrieval missions if the right coin is offered.


By being admitted to Polar Vortex Game Convention, all attendees and his or her ward(s) and/or guardian(s) hereby: (I) releases Polar Vortex Game Convention and its convention partners from any liability for loss or damage to persons or property, infringement of any right, or any other claim of course of action of any kind; (II) authorizes and permits Polar Vortex Game Convention and its designees to use his or her name, voice, likeness, and all reproductions thereof, in all media now and hereafter known for all purposes in perpetuity; and (III) agrees to comply with all the rules and regulations of the convention.
